I know, I know, it's been forever since my last blog post. This is my attempt at getting back into the blogging thing. Mostly because my sister in law Lonny keeps telling me I need to update my blog, bu also because I feel really bad that I don't do any form of journaling or scrapbooking. One day my kids will be older and want something to look back on and I don't want to have some messy box of old photos that we have to guess about when/where they were taken. So, instead of going back and trying to catch up the past year that I've missed, I'm just going to start here and then maybe insert the big events of the past year little by little.
This past week was great! We started Spring break off with a visit to Springville, UT to see Grandma & Pops, Kena, Lonny, Josh and MaeMae and cousins Kenzie, Koby, Kyson and Kameron. My boys LOVE their visiting Kade's family. It's always a little crazy with 5 boys around, but they have so much fun and literally play from the crack of dawn into the wee hours of the night. We arrived Friday night and got to spend a little time with Lonny and MaeMae and Aunt Kena. On Saturday we went to a Sciene-Palooza with the family and the Fell's. Kellin was in HEAVEN! He loves all things science and this place was full of all kinds of different science demonstrations from exploding coke to the glow room to the backyard bugs and ants room. Kellin got to go up during the exploding coke demonstration and drop mentos into a bottle of coke to create a huge coke geiser! He was really excited. After that they boys went with their grandparents to the Planetarium with their cousins while Kade and I went to lunch with his sisters and Josh. That night we met up with our friends the Fell's for Barry's birthday and enjoyed some DELICIOUS Indian food at Bombay House. After a movie it was time to call it a night. The boys enjoyed the Planetarium and were still playing with cousins when we got back home. On Sunday we visited the Fell's again to let the boys play with Addy and Lauren and enjoyed a nice visit with our good friends.
One of the things that is ALWAYS plentiful at grandma's house is food. Sunday night we enjoyed a special St. Patrick's Day dinner complete with cute shamrock table decorations and fun St. Patty's day hats for the kids. Kade's mom is always planning cute things for the boys and I know it means so much to them, they feel here love through and through. On Monday we spent the day with Lonny who, I must say, is one of my favorite people in the world. She is always so kind and so giving, she's a great mom and she is easy to talk with and hang out with. It seems we can't have a trip to Springville without a trip to Chick-fil-A and a trip to Brick Oven Pizza so on Monday we did both. Lunch at the mall for Chick-fil-A and dinner at Brick Oven with the family. Then it was time to go home after hanging out for most of the day Tuesday.
Back in St. George, the boys got a chance to go horseback riding and four wheeling on Friday with some friends. It was a beautiful, warm sunny St. George day and I was loving it. That night we did a fire in our backyard and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Saturday morning was St. Patrick's day. We did a little St. Patrick's day "follow the clues" to find a treat and then had rainbow pancakes for breakfast. The highlight of the day was the air show. For the first time, the US Navy Blue Angels came to town for an Air Show. I have been excited for weeks for the air show! I went to several as a kid growing up in Southern California and have the BEST memories of the excitment and awe I felt watching them perform. The weather forecast wasn't looking good for the day but we kept our fingers crossed and headed out anyways. It turned out to be a decent day with some wind but luckily no rain. The BEST part of the day was the Blue Angels performance and watching my kids faces as the fighter jets flew overhead. It was almost just as awesome as I remember it. There's something special about seeing something as a kid and I could tell by the look on Kellin's face that he was feeling the same thing I felt as a kid at the air show.
